Eileen Gray
Pioneer of the Modern Movement in architecture and design.
Born in Enniscorthy, Co. Wexford Eileen went on to live and work in London and Paris where she was influenced by the Art-Nouveau Movement.
In 2009, one of Gray's chairs fetched €21.9 million at auction in Paris, setting an auction record for the 20th century for a decorative art piece.
Eileen Gray died in 1976 at the age of 98 in Paris. Her ashes were interred at the Pére Lachaise Cemetery.
In this painting, I try to evoke the style of the era.
